David is a skilled CTO, innovator, and entrepreneur with a strong track record in developing and launching interactive software and hardware products in music technology, accessibility, and education. He is experienced in all aspects of running a startup, including intellectual property, fundraising, financial planning, operations, hiring, supplier management, quality assurance, compliance, and documentation.

At Playable, David leads various projects, focusing on music technology, AI, computer vision, sensor design, audio, and electronics. He is proficient in several programming languages, including Swift, Objective-C, C, C++, Java, Javascript, Max/MSP, and Matlab. With a PhD in Musical Acoustics and a first-class honours degree in Physics with Music from the University of Edinburgh, he combines technical and creative skills in his work.

David is passionate about creating engaging and inclusive experiences using both new and existing technologies to create opportunities for interaction and play that mix the digital and physical worlds. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, cycling / mountain biking, playing guitar, cooking / baking, gardening and anything to do with tinkering and making stuff work. David can often be found building and restoring guitars, musical instruments, vintage bicycles and tandems.
