Collaboration
Encore
Funded by Creative Informatics, Scottish Opera’s challenge was to create an interactive experience to capture and evaluate data from pupils and teachers on their Primary Schools Tour. To make the evaluation process more fun, engaging, and accessible for pupils and teachers, but remain data-driven. We developed Encore, an app that gamifies the survey / data collection with pupils and provides researchers with access to an interactive database.
UKRI Creative Catalyst Award.
The BeatBlocks Bandbox project focuses on working with artists and records labels to enable fans to get hands on with music and build their own versions of the tracks they love. Remixing Robyn or making Moby mashups with just some Lego, the BeatBlocks app and their smart phone or tablet. By adding 'mini build' challenges to the app fans can unlock bonus content, easter eggs and special edition sounds from their favourite artists.

Banter Bandit
With the support of Creative Informatics, Outer Spaces is working Playable to develop the ‘Banter Bandit’ – an interactive screen based system which uses gaming technology to collect feedback from casual or accidental audiences on what they see or encounter at Outer Spaces sites. Creative Informatics is an ambitious research and development programme, which aims to bring the city’s world-class creative industries and tech sector together through a partnership of four organisations: the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh Napier University, Codebase and Creative Edinburgh.
Resident Entrepeneaur.
Creative informatics Resident Entrepreneur programme was created to support individuals or small teams with ambitions to develop a new product or service using data or data-driven technology. Playable was successful in securing funding to launch the BeatBlocks app at SXSW in 2023.
